Job Description


Position Title: Storage Engineer

 

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain, migrate, and document storage solutions (SAN and NAS).
  • Collaborate with business partners, vendors, and technical teams to implement storage solutions for a dynamic customer base.
  • Migrate storage workloads, including data transfers across different platforms using tools like NDM, LVM, and multiprotocol shares (CIFS, NFS).
  • Follow strict change management procedures, and handle after-hours change windows when necessary.
  • Work in a multi-site storage environment with technologies like SRDF, SVM-DR, or similar to sync data across datacenters.
  • Respond to storage failures and incidents, ensuring data protection and troubleshooting root causes to prevent future occurrences.
  • Participate in deployment, expansion, and updates of storage infrastructure.
  • Adhere to Change Management processes and create/maintain documentation.
  • Provision and configure storage in collaboration with peer teams and customers.
  • Assist with after-hours migration efforts and continuous improvement of storage services and internal processes.


Required Qualifications:
 
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with storage and backup technologies, including NAS, SAN, FC, Object/S3, and snapshots.
  • Familiarity with WAN/LAN network technologies.
  • Basic knowledge of SAN/NAS migration tools and methodologies (e.g., NDM, LVM).
  • General understanding of operating systems such as AIX, Linux, Windows, VMware, Oracle DB, Microsoft SQL, and Server Infrastructure (Windows, Active Directory, DNS).
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with automation tools like Ansible or Terraform.
  • Knowledge of storage auditing and best practices in cloud environments such as AWS and Azure.
  • Familiarity with Object technologies like HDS and Pure FlashBlade.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to prioritize tasks in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision to meet project deadlines.
  • Clear communication skills to present technical information to various audiences.
  • Familiarity with ITIL concepts and best practices.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
