Senior Infrastructure Engineer
Onsite 3 days a week in St Louis, MO, remote 2 days a week
Overview
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing and delivering solutions in accordance with industry best practices. The Engineer is responsible for working closely with the Process Control Engineers to help “bridge the gap” between OT and IT systems. The engineer will possess deep expertise across a variety of infrastructure technologies (Servers, Network, storage, security) to design, implement, administer, and support. The Senior Infrastructure Engineer ensures all incidents assigned to them are analyzed, resolved, and reported back within the promised timeframes. Proactively, the Engineer surfaces and obviates all unplanned issues early and leverages emerging technologies and processes to deliver best in class methods. Additionally, the engineer will lead specific infrastructure (servers, network, storage, security) projects.
Requirements
Education: Two-year technical degree required. Bachelor’s Degree in information technology or a related field STRONGLY PREFERRED.
Experience: 8-10 years’ experience developing, implementing, or supporting business critical solutions required.
o Must have experience with cyber security solutions and best practices.
o Must have experience building and managing the networks.
o Experience incident troubleshooting and escalation and using help desk ticketing software.
o Experience with Office365 and Azure cloud Infrastructure.
o Experience in enterprise backup solutions and Disaster Recovery solutions.
o Experience managing security devices including firewalls, SDWAN, TACACS/Radius, VPN and Wireless.
o Experience managing medium to large infrastructure on a day-to-day basis.
o Extensive experience with Microsoft clustering, Microsoft SCCM, SAN, exchange, Linux, and other systems administration experience desirable.
• Knowledge: Deep expertise with the following technical systems
o Windows 10\11, Windows Server 2016\2019\2022, Active Directory, and MS Exchange
o VMWare, Azure, Pure SANS, Citrix, and SilverPeaks
o Cisco network equipment including switches, routers, firewalls and Cisco Call Manager.
o Meraki and Cisco Wireless
o Cisco Data Center Technologies such as UCS servers and Blades, Fabric Interconnects, and nexus switches
Skills: Excellent verbal, written and customer service skills. Must be skilled in applying network design and configuration best practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with ability to prioritize and quickly resolve issues.
Abilities: Capable of providing expert level (Level 3) troubleshooting at mid-scale enterprise. Able to quickly adapt to challenging dynamic environments and a demonstrated ability to making sound decisions and judgments.
Essential Functions
• Partner with IT functional teams and architects to create and maintain a stable scalable, manageable, and predictable infrastructure (Servers, Network, Storage, Security and PC)
• Lead select infrastructure implementations projects and solutions
• Participate in monitoring all critical production processes and technologies that have high visibility and impact on business operations and diagnose, resolve and communicate Tier 3 incidents as a hands-on expert.
• Determine and document the root cause of any unplanned outage and take appropriate steps to resolve the problem
• Design and implement infrastructure solutions which meet the needs of the organization in a collaborative and effective manner
• Operate and improve services in accordance with business needs, priorities and SLAs.
• Be able to configure, maintain and support layer 2 and layer 3 switches, virtualized servers, SAN, Security, etc.
• Document procedures and processes and consistently follow existing guidelines standard operating procedures.
• Proactively learn and train other staff members on new product and service technologies
• Travel expectations: Up to 20%
