Job Description

Position: Technical Project Manager
Department: Information Technology
 
Mission
The Technical Project Manager will oversee the implementation of software projects, ensuring smooth execution from start to finish. This role demands strong communication, influencing, and negotiation abilities to effectively engage with both technical and business stakeholders. The TPM will leverage a robust technical background in databases, cloud technologies, system architecture, infrastructure, networking, and Active Directory (AD) to drive projects forward, manage risks, and maintain project timelines and dependencies.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
  • Evaluate requests for proposals (RFPs) and vendor proposals for security risks, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
  • Communicate processes and updates clearly to the team, vendors, and partners.
  • Work independently and with the team to make informed decisions and manage project scope and schedule changes.
  • Measure performance, manage client relationships, and establish third-party vendor partnerships.
  • Create and maintain project documentation, reporting daily on status and progress.
  • Anticipate and mitigate risks, resolve issues proactively, and manage migration plans.
  • Communicate project expectations, risks, and escalations across all organizational levels.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards for change control and successful project delivery.
  • Manage Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and resources, providing technical guidance and safeguards for software initiatives.
  • Maintain clear customer-facing documentation, defining roles and responsibilities.
  • Update and organize project documents, including RACI, RAID, and archives.
  • Assist the CIO with strategic planning, capturing new ideas, and proposing solutions.
  • Support project implementation when resources are limited and may assist with software administration and audit reporting.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., Monday.com, Smartsheets, Excel, Jira, ITSM). Familiarity with software development processes and system architecture. Oracle Database and architecture knowledge preferred.
  • Risk Management: Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to varied audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership qualities to motivate and guide teams, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficient in analyzing project performance data and making data-driven decisions to improve outcomes.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to anticipate issues and develop proactive solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Relationship Management: Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and third-party vendors.
  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational abilities, with a focus on detail and the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities while maintaining focus on deliverables.
  • Documentation Skills: Proficient in creating and maintaining project documentation, including RACI, RAID, and status reports.
  • Financial Acumen: Understanding of budget management and cost control principles.
  • Technical Guidance: Ability to provide architectural and technical guidance to teams, ensuring alignment with best practices and security standards.
  • Work Ethics: Work independently with minimal supervision; self-motivated and results-oriented, with initiative to complete tasks thoroughly.

Education & Experience
  • Degree: B.A./B.S. in Computer Science. MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience is desirable.
  • Years: Minimum of three (3) years of IT project management experience.
  • Field: Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fields.
