Network & Transport Specialist - Telecom Engineer Envision is seeking a Network & Transport Specialist - Telecom Engineer for our 12 months+ role , seeking candidates in either the Greensburg PA, Reading PA. or Fairmont WV areas. Need Local Candidates in the Greensburg PA, Reading PA. or Fairmont WV areas.NO C2C OR THIRD PARTIES ALLOWED Required Qualifications: 
  1. Bachelor or Associate Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications or related field, or equivalent work experience in a network engineering field. Related experience in a network engineering field may include, but is not limited to engineering, maintenance, and operations of routing & switching, optical transport, microwave, or wireless radio communications equipment.
  2. Knowledge of the OSI reference model, network routing and switching (e.g. Cisco, Nokia), protocol conversion, network management applications (e.g. OpenText OM, NNMi, NA, Splunk, NetScout)
  3. Core competencies include interpersonal, communications (written & verbal), presentation, project management, and drafting/drawing (Visio/CAD) skills.
  4. Knowledge and experience in the following technical areas is preferred:
  • Providing data network platform administration
  • Real-time systems and networks (EMS, GMS, DMS)
  • Encryption technologies and protocols (VPN/IPSec, GET-VPN, MACsec)
  • Regulatory compliance requirements impacting real-time systems and networks
  • EMS, GMS, DMS, SCADA communications, and Remote Terminal Units (RTUs)
  • Network management and other tools used to monitor the performance of these systems and manage the work
  • Environmental support systems (e.g., HVAC, AC/DC power systems, batteries, generators, etc.)
 Role / Responsibilities:As part of the Real-Time Networks team, responsibilities include the architecture, engineering, design, implementation, operation, maintenance, regulatory compliance, and ongoing reliability of real-time data networks for the Energy Management System (EMS), Generation Management System (GMS), Distribution Management System (DMS), Transmission Substation Networks, and encryption technologies used to support those networks. Also responsible for regulatory compliance of real-time network systems including Electronic Security Perimeters (ESPs), change control activities, configuration management, password changes, etc.
  • Design and deliver high-performance high-availability networks, in a 24x7 fully monitored control center environment.
  • Participates in projects to ensure computing and network architecture solutions are compliant, resilient, performant, and align with technical strategy.
  • Supports the operational performance and maintenance of existing network infrastructure.
  • Coordinates closely with Cyber Security, Cyber Security Technologies, EMS/GMS Operations, and Distribution SCADA teams to ensure that policies and security standards are followed.
  • Coordinates with and receives support from the IT Networks group for transport as a service provider.
  • Coordinates across IT business units to accomplish objectives.
  • Ensures technical standards and regulatory requirements are followed in assigned work.
  • Maintains scope, schedule, and budget for assigned projects.
  • Maintains functional knowledge of technology, technology changes, and emerging business requirements.
 Principal Accountabilities
  • Provides daily support for the Real-Time Networks team that supports the many technology platforms delivering secure, reliable, and high performance network functionality to real-time systems employees, contractors, and business partners across the FE network.
  • Ensures high level of reliability and availability of these systems.
  • Understands and follows all applicable policies & procedures to effectively manage risk to the Real Time Network environments.
  • Supports the 24x7 on-call rotation process by functioning as primary call contact and providing engineering second level backup to help troubleshoot and repair system/hardware failures or performance degradation.
  • Executes work to assure on-scope, on-schedule, and on-budget performance.
  • Maintains strict adherence to FE safety programs and guidelines.

  • Available during non-standard hours when project schedules and maintenance issues dictate.
