Senior IT Data Engineering Project Manager 

Location: St. Louis, MO (Local candidates only; onsite 2-3 days per week) 

We are seeking a Senior IT Project Manager with proven expertise leading complex, data-driven initiatives within a matrixed organization. This role will focus on a portfolio of projects in the Data Engineering and Data Strategy space. The ideal candidate will be a technically savvy leader who excels at project delivery, stakeholder management, and driving strategic data initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the full project lifecycle (discovery to closeout) for multiple concurrent data-focused projects.

  • Partner with program sponsors, business stakeholders, and technical teams to align project goals with business strategy.

  • Effectively scope projects, identify risks, and implement solutions to ensure successful delivery of milestones.

  • Collaborate with IT managers to allocate and manage resources across cross-functional teams.

  • Deliver executive-level updates, reports, and presentations using tools like Excel, JIRA, and MS Project.

  • Lead integration of vendor deliverables, monitor progress, and drive accountability.

  • Manage KPIs, ROI, and ensure adherence to risk management standards.

  • Facilitate change control processes, issue resolution, and lessons learned reviews.

  • Serve as a trusted partner, fostering relationships across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience as a Project Manager, with a focus on IT projects (application development, data engineering, or analytics).

  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale, transformational data initiatives.

  • Strong technical acumen; background in data engineering, data strategy, or application development.

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience interacting with senior leaders.

  • Expertise in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA) and advanced Excel capabilities for reporting.

  • Experience working in a matrixed environment, effectively coordinating resources across departments.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

  • Hands-on knowledge of data strategy, analytics, or cloud-based data technologies.

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and CI/CD frameworks.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership abilities with the ability to influence and inspire teams.

  • Effective relationship-building skills with a focus on collaboration and communication.

  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.
