Monitoring and Event Management Engineer

The Monitoring and Event Management team plays a crucial role in driving business value by providing deep insights into the health and performance of IT solutions and products. This position is responsible for managing system performance, event monitoring, and automation across the organization. Key tasks include:
  • Managing customer requests to add, modify, or remove monitoring and alerting configurations.
  • Offering guidance on monitoring best practices and event management standards.
  • Supporting troubleshooting efforts by analyzing historical data to help identify and resolve issues.
  • Configuring and escalating alerts to the appropriate teams to quickly resolve issues.
  • Automating routine tasks and developing scripted solutions as the organization transitions to a hybrid environment (cloud, on-premises, and hosted).
  • Delivering performance notifications for events that exceed or fall below established baseline thresholds.

Qualifications:

Required:
 
  • 3+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Shell, Python, etc.).
  • Strong familiarity with Linux user interface and commands.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Capability to quickly assess issues, determine root causes, and implement solutions.

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and technologies (e.g., Nagios, SCOM, ITNM).
  • Experience with virtualization and related technologies.
  • Knowledge of project management tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with IT Service Management processes (e.g., ITIL).
