Cloud Data Engineer
 
What the Team Does

  • Designs and develops data ingestion workflows using Databricks, Spark (batch and streaming), Azure Functions, and other Azure data services like Azure SQL and Azure Storage.

  • Provides Tier 1 production support as part of a shared on-call rotation, including:

    • Initial triage of production issues

    • Troubleshooting Databricks jobs, Spark applications, and Azure Functions

    • Assisting domain teams when software or data pipelines fail

  • Improves reliability and performance by implementing:

    • System and pipeline hardening

    • Resiliency enhancements

    • Better monitoring, alerting, and tuning

  • Collaborates with:

    • Other cloud data engineers

    • Domain product teams

    • Business teams that consume data

  • Designs cloud solutions using Azure Event Hubs, ADLS Gen2, Azure Databricks, Data Factory, Delta Lake, Cosmos DB, and DevOps tools such as GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps.
Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full-lifecycle development, testing, and data validation

  • Strong knowledge of Apache Spark concepts and architecture

  • Experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres, etc.)

  • Hands-on experience supporting workloads on Azure (Spark, Functions, Azure SQL)

  • Ability to write scalable data pipelines in Python, Scala, or Java

  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills, including multi-threaded applications

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and Databricks components (workspaces, clusters, notebooks, jobs)
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with big data technologies and NoSQL systems

  • Knowledge of cloud storage technologies such as ADLS Gen2

  • Understanding of change data capture (CDC) and slowly changing dimensions (SCD1/SCD2)

  • Experience developing APIs and Azure Functions

  • Background in cloud ecosystems (Azure, AWS, or similar)
