Fiber Optics Technician (on-site)
Must have STRONG fiber optic background w/hands on experience.This is a very hands on position - tier 3 troubleshooting w/3-4 years of experience. Responsible for deployment and maintenance of the  voice and data telecommunications cable infrastructure that supports the wired and wireless networks, and cellular & public safety distributed antenna systems. 
  1. Installs, troubleshoots, & maintains the infrastructure for the supported services consisting of VOIP Telephony, audio code connections to legacy telephony devices, emergency phone support, CATV plant, fire alarm communications network, cellular distributed antenna system (DAS), public safety distributed antenna systems (E-DAS), underground telecommunication cable location identification and marking, and infrastructure disconnects.  
  2. Performs high level troubleshooting & installation of fiber optic terminations & fusion splicing, including testing verifications for Loss Length (Tier-1) & OTDR traces (Tier2), installs & diagnoses complex problems on fiber optic pathways, and coordinates & installs low voltage cables, activations, & repairs.  
  3. Performs certifying test results for copper & fiber optic infrastructure.
  4. Maintains the Arc GIS Database infrastructure records for GPS locations of newly installed & legacy communication cable plant.  
  5. Oversees assigned trouble tickets & work orders while maintaining SLE deadlines.
  6. Performs telecommunication Room (TR) upkeep & maintenance.  
  7. Provide 24x7x365 response for incidents and alerts Develops, maintains, and provides infrastructure documentation, including internal departmental database records, infrastructure audits, LCM efforts, & preventive maintenance.
 Skills: 
  1. Must have working knowledge of structured cabling systems, applying a technical understanding of industry standards & network infrastructure.
  2. Knowledge of and experience with modern service management systems to receive trouble tickets.
  3. Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and meet SLE requirements.
  4. Strong client-facing and internal documentation skills.
  5. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills required.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  7. Technical expertise to assist in decision making and analysis.
  8. Understands basic network protocols, understands network layer 1 infrastructure, requires detailed understanding of network low voltage structured wiring and its associated physical infrastructure
  9. Ability to utilize Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams, & similar software applications for daily tasks.
  10. Completion of an infrastructure low voltage certificate program or degree from an accredited technical school preferred
  11. Associate degree in computers or information technology required plus 4 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  12. Knowledge of structured cabling systems
  13. BICSI certification preferred
