Job Description


IT Communication Infrastructure Technician

Experience: 4-5 years of hands-on troubleshooting experience, fiber optic background required.

Responsibilities:
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain infrastructure for VOIP telephony, audio code connections to legacy telephony devices, emergency phone support, fire alarm communications network, cellular DAS, public safety DAS, underground telecommunication cable location identification and marking, and infrastructure disconnects.
  • Perform high-level troubleshooting and installation of fiber optic terminations and fusion splicing, including testing verifications for Loss Length (Tier-1) and OTDR traces (Tier-2).
  • Install and diagnose complex problems on fiber optic pathways, coordinate and install low voltage cables, activations, and repairs.
  • Certify test results for copper and fiber optic infrastructure.
  • Maintain Arc GIS Database infrastructure records for GPS locations of newly installed and legacy communication cable plant.
  • Oversee assigned trouble tickets and work orders while maintaining SLE deadlines.
  • Maintain telecommunication rooms (TR) and ensure their upkeep.
  • Provide 24x7x365 response for incidents and alerts.
  • Develop, maintain, and provide infrastructure documentation, including internal departmental database records, infrastructure audits, LCM efforts, and preventive maintenance.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of structured cabling systems and a technical understanding of industry standards and network infrastructure.
  • Experience with modern service management systems to receive trouble tickets.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and meet SLE requirements.
  • Strong client-facing and internal documentation skills.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse groups, including executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Technical expertise to assist in decision-making and analysis.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to apply experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Completion of an infrastructure low voltage certificate program or degree from an accredited technical school preferred.
  • Associate degree in computers or information technology required, plus 4 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (experience can substitute for education).
  • BICSI certification preferred.
